I’m Zave (he/they)

I’m queer and trans, with lived experience of mental health, neurodivergence and chronic illness. I have been a counsellor since 2019 and primarily work with LGBTQIA+ people and those in marginalised communities.

I know the courage it takes to sit with someone and be real. It’s a privilege to do this work, and providing a safe space for people to share their story is important to me. Therapy often holds an inherent power imbalance, but our work together is collaborative. I aim to offer a comfortable environment where we work together as humans. You will be met with warmth, curiosity, no judgment and genuine connection. Your voice and insight is valued here.

The power of therapy is not a formula to me, nor is it effective because of a framework. It works because you show up. You deserve compassion as you navigate your life and find what feels authentic to you.

I’ve supported people in diverse settings (disability, youth, alcohol and other drugs, aged care, refugees and asylum seekers, people in the justice system). My foundation is in person-centred therapy, and I integrate elements from other evidence based modalities.

I’m a registered member of PACFA and am committed to ethical, inclusive and evolving practice.

Approach

Humanistic & holistic

We are all on our own paths, and have the capacity to grow and create our best, most authentic lives. We are complex humans, made up of mind, body and spirit, influencing how we connect with ourselves and the world.

Depathologising & trauma informed

The systems we live in, our lived experience, and societal factors outside of our control, shape our identity and impact how we move through the world. We are not problems to be fixed, and healing is an ongoing process.

Person-centred

We all have unique stories and insights. You are the expert in your life, and deserve compassion, understanding and autonomy.
